'Yellow vest' violence erupts across Europe

The main focus of this editorial is the statue based in the Place de la Republique. It is recognised as a symbol of peace and liberty. My initial intention was to show that, what was once seen as a peaceful place, is now a place of protest. I aimed to show this by having the statue wear the yellow vest. On reflection it could appear that the figure agrees with the protest and shares the same views as the yellow vest group. In order to develop this, I changed the facial expression of the statue to show concern at the violence taking place. The figures in the image represent the two opposing sides. The colours were also edited slightly to give more clarity to each individual shape.
