S2 WEEK 2: Putin Editorial Development

'The task of the government is not only to pour honey into a cup, but sometimes to give bitter medicine'.
After receiving feedback on my initial response to the Putin quote, I developed my editorial piece further. I aimed to emphasise the idea of someone being forced to swallow the honey. In this piece Putin resembles a dentist. I decided not to use a detailed figure when drawing the victim, in order to show the person could be any member of the general public. In order to develop this further, I would make Putin appear to be more forceful. Another improvement for this piece would be to work on Putin’s facial features, as he looks quite young. I would include lines on the forehead to represent wrinkles and his current age.

Each figure has a tendency to use repetition making certain words more prominent. For example, Trump uses the word 'Amazing' often when delivering speeches. He also uses words associated with animals which I have previously looked at when producing an editorial piece.  Putin's vocabulary appears sterner and more serious with words such as 'order', 'dangerous' and 'destroy. S2 WEEK 4: Yellow Vests Editorial

'Yellow vest' violence erupts across Europe Developed Editorial: Initial Editorial: Inspiration - Daily Mail Photograph: The main focus of this editorial is the statue based in the Place de la Republique. It is recognised as a symbol of peace and liberty. My initial intention was to show that, what was once seen as a peaceful place, is now a place of protest. I aimed to show this by having the statue wear the yellow vest. On reflection it could appear that the figure agrees with the protest and shares the same views as the yellow vest group. In order to develop this, I changed the facial expression of the statue to show concern at the violence taking place. The figures in the image represent the two opposing sides. The colours were also edited slightly to give more clarity to each individual shape.
