WEEK 10: Inspiration
In order to gain inspiration when producing my editorial pieces, I looked at several creatives. I found that my drawings did not reflect my illustrative style and I tended to focus too much on providing lots of detail. When working on previous editorial tasks, I have learnt that small visual elements such as symbols, colours, composition can have a stronger impact that pieces that are extremely detailed.
The artist Daniel Pudles was recommended to me when looking for inspiration. When looking at Pudles work, they appear very bold and focus on strong shapes. I love producing lino prints and paper cut pieces, as it encourages me to think more simplistically with shapes. This could be applied to my work, as it would help me consider the most important pieces of content to include, rather than trying to over complicate my pieces. I aim to avoid the obvious imagery, I feel Pudles achieves this as he often works in a non-literal manner.
