WEEK 8: Trump Editorial Time Magazine
Having read an article by TIME Magazine, I decided to experiment with creating an editorial piece. The article was particularly interesting to me as it refers to Trump's poor and offensive use of language. When talking about immigrants in particular, the president uses descriptive words that are associated with animals. It often comes across as though he forgets they are human beings.
Rough 1: When creating this rough, I decided to focus on the word infest. I associate the word with unwanted creatures that are troublesome. The animals I think of related to this are cockroaches and mice. By using the mice, I feel the idea of them being human like can be communicated. I used the mice family in order to present the fact that although they may not be wanted in someones home, they are simply trying to survive and protect each other. The eye peering through the mice hole belongs to Trump, showing that this topic is one of his main focuses.

Rough 2: This rough focuses on the idea of Trump stamping out illegal immigrants. The cockroach represents the person trying to come into the country to start a new life. Although it presents the idea of 'infest', I do not feel this creates empathy for the people. It just appears to be a man removing a unwanted pest.

Rough 3: I aim to present two in images in one, these being the symbol of a cockroach and a group of people. As a collective Trump sees the immigrants as troublesome and has lack of empathy for the people. Looking at the immigrants as individuals, it is clear that not all of them are 'troublesome', they are simply looking for a new life and to provide the best they can for their families. A bindle has been used to create the cockroach's antenna in order to communicate the idea of travelling.
