WEEK 7: Illustrating the 7 Devices of Propaganda

Plain Folks: I aim to show that the person is trying to relate to the 'common people', but may also be saying everything they think they want to hear. The person appears to be wearing a mask in order to fit in or relate to the people. Although not all propaganda is misleading, I do often question its intentions and as to whether or not they give false hope.

Glittering Generalities: I used the yellow and black stripe in order to present the idea of being vague or not completely accurate. Yellow and black tape is associated with being cautious or aware of a form of danger. I applied this to the approved stamp to show that although the message communicated may seem convincing, the information supporting it may not be completely accurate.

Testimonial: The thumbs up symbol can be recognised from social media platforms such as Facebook. I have used this in order to show the idea of someone endorsing or approving of a certain idea. The person may not even be from the world of politics, but if the figure is liked, or disliked they can influence an audience's decision as to whether they agree with an idea. I feel using the social media symbol helps present the idea of having a wide range of opinions from a variety of people.
Bandwagon: My aim is to communicate the idea of feeling left out. The single flower outside of the vase represents the person who is trying to be convinced of an idea/opinion. The flowers within the vase are all of the same opinion suggesting that the flower outside is the 'odd one out' or 'left out'. Using the group of flowers together, I aim to show how overpowering a group of opinions can be .
